Below is the text from an e-mail that has been sent to the councillors that represent the wards of Llanelli to try and generate more support.
You may have seen in the local press over the last 2 weeks reports about the support for the retention of the Island House pub on Swansea Castle roundabout in Llanelli. The Llanelli Star this week ran a feature about our local Assembly member Helen Mary Jones publicly backing the fight to keep the pub open, standing alongside her in the photograph are 2 elected members of the council.
I am writing to you today to try and get as much support as possible so that the Island House may be reprieved from the possibility of demolition and integrated into the regeneration scheme planned for the Eastern Gateway. You all represent wards within the boundaries of Llanelli and I am sure you agree the demise of Llanelli Town centre is something that really needs to be halted. Is there any way that your voices, that are representation of the people of Llanelli, can be heard to support this just and important call to save a local landmark that has stood for over 200 years and not let it perish like other old buildings of Llanelli have in the name of progress.
Comments from the online petition...
Tim Milligan "It would be such a shame to lose such an iconic building in Llanelli"
Jennifer Williams "Lovely landmark buildings should be treasured for posterity, not flattened for new boring characterless shops"

When is our council going to start listening to the people of the town? Time and again we see them bring in ill thought out plans for the town which destroy the very essence of what makes Llanelli. Progress and development yes but at what cost?

The old pub should be incorporated into the new plans.lets hope that the people that supports the local pub to stay - use it as there local as well. if its not used it will be lost for ever. its a town land mark. so come on county look at it again...?
